I Corinthians 14:34-15:2
How Did it Come to This?
Lack of submission and too much self-indulgence in the realm of spiritual gifts
had led to a chaotic and disorderly worship service. Besides the problems of
multiple, simultaneous tongues-speakers and prophets, there was also a
problem of the disruption of husbands and wives in the service. Given the
many problems in their marriages, there was no doubt it spilled into the
worship service and created problems. Paul speaks of one of these problems
in verses 34-36 as it particularly affected the peacefulness of their services.
All of the problems of Corinth were leading up to a major catastrophe.
